I was first impressed with Oswald Service & Repair back in June (2020) when they very quickly did some repair work in multiple areas on the 2005 Subaru that my teenagers drive. I had shopped around and received quotes from other shops but their quote was the lowest so I went with them. Best automotive repair decision I've ever made. Hands down. Not only were they quick, but when I went to pick up the car they said that some things weren't as bad as originally thought which minimized the repair work and they actually charged me LESS than what their quote was. I have NEVER seen this kind of honesty anywhere else. Then just last week, I found out that the front and rear brake pads were completely worn out on my main vehicle and I needed to take this vehicle out of state for a medical appointment. They told me that they were a week and half out on appointments (no one ever cancels because they are so good). I explained my predicament, not demanding or expecting any special treatment and began to try to figure out alternate transportation for my upcoming trip. Josh said he'd look at the schedule to see if they could do anything. He said that because it was an uncomplicated repair, if I was willing to drop it off that night, they would try and work it in sometime the next day... .and THEY DID! Oh, and they charged me $300 less than three other shops that I called for quotes for the same brake job! Both Josh and Nick are cheerful, friendly, accommodating and take the time to explain what's going on so you can understand. You can actually feel that their concern for you and your circumstances is genuine. With that type of customer service and unheard of honesty, I will never go anywhere else. UPDATE (JULY 2025): my original review was back in 2021. But now I want to leave an update. I have continued to regularly have very good experiences with Oswald Auto Repair since then, but this week was another great one at their Idaho Falls location. I have a son getting married this week and a daughter getting married in eight weeks. They are both planning on taking their vehicles on their respective honeymoons. As their father I had some serious reservations about whether or not these vehicles would safely and reliable make road trips of 2000+ miles. Because Oswald Auto Repair is so good, people want to go there and so their schedule is usually fairly full. However, I called and talked to Josh and explained that these vehicles needed inspections ASAP and why. Josh is always so cheerful and eager to help with whatever problem you have. (so is Matt). Josh looked at the schedule and told me that if I could drop off the vehicles that evening, they would do a full inspection the next day. Like clockwork, mid morning the next day, I got a full report of everything that was good on the cars, as well as a couple of things that needed attention. One of the vehicles had a serious safety issue that required a rather expensive repair, and they were able to complete that in a timely manner at a very fair price. The other vehicle was in good shape, but in need of some maintenance that would ensure smooth performance on a long road trip. We all care about the safety of our own kids, but this time it really felt like Josh, Matt, and everyone at Oswald Auto Repair cared about my family’s safety as well. It’s a huge load off my mind because I have great confidence that these vehicles are roadworthy and safe! If there was a rating higher than five stars I’d give it. Do yourself a favor and next time you need help with any of your vehicles, go to Oswald Auto Repair! UPDATE (10/29/25): I took my wife’s vehicle in because I thought the transmission was leaking. Thankfully it was not! But their keen eye noticed that my tie rods were nearly worn out as there was way too much play with the wheels. This was a significant safety issue that I would have otherwise not known about til it was too late! They had it fixed and ready to go by the next morning and I have peace of mind that my wife’s vehicle is safe to drive. I love these guys!
